Explain the difference between yellow journalism and traditional journalism. Identify two major newspaper or figures in journali
asambeis [7]

Answer:

Yellow journalism is a pejorative term that refers to the making, placing and distribution of articles in newspapers, weeklies and other periodicals that are not so much made from real journalism, but are more of a mishmash of gossip, baseless claims and half-truths. The main purpose is almost always to promote the sales of the magazine in which the articles are printed. After all, people like to read stories like this.  In contrast, traditional journalism really seeks to convey a story to the public, regardless of the commercial interest of the media to sell their products. A clear historical example of yellow journalism was the New York World.

Why did the French send Giovanni da Verrazano to the Americas? A) They were searching for a waterway through or around North Ame
MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

hey hailei!

Explanation:

Why did the French send Giovanni da Verrazano to the Americas?

A) They were searching for a waterway through or around North America, or a northwest passage to Asia.

Giovanni da Verrazzano was born around 1485 near Val di Greve, 30 miles south of Florence, Italy. Around 1506 or 1507, he began pursuing a maritime career, and in the 1520s, he was sent by King Francis I of France to explore the East Coast of North America for a route to the Pacific. He made landfall near what would be Cape Fear, North Carolina, in early March and headed north to explore. Verrazzano eventually discovered New York Harbor, which now has a bridge spanning it named for the explorer. After returning to Europe, Verrazzano made two more voyages to the Americas. On the second, in 1528, he was killed and eaten by the natives of one of the Lower Antilles, probably on Guadeloupe.

Verrazzano and Francis I met between 1522 and 1523, and Verrazzano convinced the king that he would be the right man to undertake exploratory voyages to the West on behalf of France; Francis I signed on. Verrazzano prepared four ships, loaded with ammunition, cannons, lifeboats, and scientific equipment, with provisions to last eight months. The flagship was named Delfina, in honor of the King’s firstborn daughter, and it set sail with the Normanda, Santa Maria and Vittoria. The Santa Maria and Vittoria were lost in a storm at sea, while the Delfina and the Normanda found their way into battle with Spanish ships. In the end, only the Delfina was seaworthy, and it headed to the New World during the night of January 17, 1524. Like many explorers of the day, Verrazzano was ultimately seeking a passage to the Pacific Ocean and Asia, and he thought that by sailing along the northern coastline of the New World he would find a passageway to the West Coast of North America.

B) They were searching for the seven cities of Cibola.

C) They were looking for fur traders

D) They were searching for a waterway through or around North America, or a southwest passage to Asia.

Why was the “Operation Rolling Thunder” strategy not successful?
Mila [183]

Answer:

Operation Rolling Thunder was the codename for an American bombing campaign during the Vietnam War. U.S. military aircraft attacked targets throughout North Vietnam from March 1965 to October 1968.

Explanation:

Was Operation Rolling Thunder a Failure?

Although North Vietnam did not have much of an air force, its leaders managed to mount an effective defense against the bombing raids. With assistance from China and the Soviet Union, the North Vietnamese constructed a sophisticated air-defense system.

Using surface-to-air missiles and radar-controlled anti-aircraft artillery, the North Vietnamese shot down hundreds of American planes over the course of the bombing campaign. As a result, pilots and aircraft weapon systems operators accounted for the majority of the American prisoners of war who were captured and held by North Vietnam.

North Vietnamese leaders also took a number of other steps to reduce the impact of the American bombing raids. They constructed networks of bombproof tunnels and shelters, and dispatched crews by night to rebuild the roads, bridges, communication systems and other facilities struck by bombs.

Additionally, the communists used the destructive air strikes for propaganda purposes to increase anti-American sentiment and patriotism among North Vietnamese citizens.
