Answer:

The best revision for the paragraph is to change “having” to “permitting.”

Explanation:

If we make each one of the changes that are suggested in the options the only one who makes the text more logic is the first one, since permitting is a more formal word that is also linked to the decision of many schools of not allowing cellphones in the classroom, the other options are not correct because changing those word would change the intention of the paragraph.

"Letter from Birmingham Jail" is an open letter  written on April 16th, 1963 by Martin Luther King Jr. The letter defends the strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. While Martin Luther King spent 8 days sentence in jail he wrote the letter to not only address the injustice of his arrest, but to only make a statement on the incompetence of the church, the brutality of the police,  but also how despite all of these injustices he is put under, he still writes diplomatically because of his belief of nonviolent resistance.

It is because of these arguments that the statement that identifies the main idea from the excerpt correctly is <u><em>"I'm sorry that I can't join you in your praise for the police department."</em></u> Because it summarizes how the police department treated with injustice the black community but while keeping his diplomacy.

3. In paragraph 18, why does the author follow the line,
V125BC [204]

Answer:

B.

Explanation:

'A Good Man Is Hard To Find' is a short story written by Flannery O’Connor. The story centers on the themes of  grace, Christian beliefs, moral conduct, etc. These themes are represented in the story with the tone of humor and irony, by the author.

In the story, in paragraph 18, the author followed the line <em>'People did right then' </em>with <em>' "Oh look at the cute little pickaninny!" </em>was to reveal the grandmother's hypocrisy. Using the derogatory term <em>'pickaninny' </em>grandmother tried to portray the young black child to nothing. These lines also suggests how she glorified the past of South when blacks were treated like nothing and confer it as a <em>'right thing that people did back then.'</em>

Thus, these lines are used by author to portray hypocrisy of the grandmother. Therefore, option B is correct.
