Mark thought it was strange that Molly left Linda’s party without saying good-bye to him, especially since they’d come together.

The next week he called her every day and left messages on her voicemail, but she did not respond. She had never done that before. At a basketball game after school, he saw her talking on her cell phone and thought it would be a good time to catch her and dialed her number. She did not pick up the call, and it went to voicemail again. That Saturday he drove by her house with his mother on the way to the store, and there was Molly holding hands with Rob Becker. Mark felt a sinking feeling in his stomach.
What can the reader infer from this paragraph?

A. Molly likes Rob Becker because he plays basketball.
B. Molly's parents have given her a strict curfew.
C. Mark and Molly have been boyfriend and girlfriend.
D. The voicemail on Molly's cell phone isn't working.

I think the answer is option C. Mark & Molly have been boyfriend and girlfriend. It's the only appropriate answer seems to me.

Lets review all the choices for the answer.

A. Molly likes Rob Becker because he plays basketball.

- In the paragraph Mark saw Molly talking on her cell phone after a basketball game. If Rob Becker were playing basketball, Molly would've talked to him face to face after the game.

B. Molly's parents have given her a strict curfew.

- If Molly's parents had given curfew, Molly wouldn't have gone to Linda's party in the first place.

C. Mark & Molly have been boyfriend and girlfriend.

- Mark had sinking feelings in his stomach after seeing Molly's holding hand with Rob Becker. This is the only option that connects correctly with this paragraph.

D. The voicemail on Molly's cell phone isn't working.

- Molly was able to receive voice mail. She was just avoiding Mark for some reasons. Cause when Mark saw Molly talking on her cell phone he called her. But she didn't pick up the call. That proves she knew Mark was calling her for some times.

Oft did the harvest to their sickle yield,
Agata [3.3K]
A. The details about farming are rooted in the period, while the theme that hard work brings satisfaction can be applied to any period.

There are tools mentioned in the poem, for example a sickle (a blade used for cutting down crops) and a team of oxen to pull the plow, that are not often used today since more modern technology has made farming easier. The idea that if you work hard you'll feel good about what you've achieved still holds true today though!
