It is important to tell a family member about a disability so they will be able to help you overcome or live with it if it's permanent. the support and encouragement they will show will certainly lift some weight of your shoulders. also it always helps to be able to talk about it and you will always have a shoulder to cry on through tough times

For example, if you want to write a dystopian novel, usually teens and young adults read such books, so you want to modify your novel and theme a bit to better suit their interest and understanding. You need to decide on which group of readers you want to write for so that you can adjust themes, motifs, characters, etc.
