5 0

Answer:

Solutions / zeroes of x² + 6x + 5 = 0 are -5 , -1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Quadratic equation, x² + 6x = -5

To find: Value of x or zeroes of equation

Rewrite the given equation in standard form,

x² + 6x + 5 = 0

now comparing it with standard form of quadratic equation

ax² + bx + c = 0

we get, a = 1 ,  b = 6 , c = 5

we first find discriminant, D to check if zeroes exit or not and nature of zeroes.

D = b² - 4ac

   = 6² - 4 × 1 × 5

   = 36 - 20

D = 16

Since, D > 0 i.e., positive

⇒ zeroes exist and they are real & distinct.

Now e can solve it by any method,

By middle term split method, we get

x² + 6x + 5 = 0

x² + 5x + x + 5 = 0

x ( x + 5) + ( x + 5 ) = 0

( x + 5 ) ( x + 1 ) = 0

now equating both factor with 0 we get,

x + 5 = 0     and   x + 1 = 0

x = -5 , -1

Therefore, Solutions / zeroes of x² + 6x + 5 = 0 are -5 , -1

Which number is an irrational number
allochka39001 [22]
Hi there! The answer is C.

An irrational number is a number that cannot be written as a fraction.

A, B and D can be written as a fraction.
A. 3.5 = 3 1 / 2
B. square root of 36 = 6 = 6 / 1
D. 37 / 100 is already a fraction.

Hence, the only number that cannot be written as a fraction is the square root of 48.

\sqrt{48} = 6.928...

The answer is C: the square root of 48 is an irrational number.

There are 5 red marbles, 4 blue marble, 2 green marbles, and 1 yellow marble in the bag. What is the probability of pulling out
kykrilka [37]

Answer:

Red : 5/12

Blue : 1/3

Green: 1/6

Yellow : 1/12

Step-by-step explanation:

5 red marbles + 4 blue marbles + 2 green marbles + 1 yellow marble = 12 total marbles

5 red marbles / 12 total marbles = 5/12

4 blue marbles / 12 total marbles = 4/12 = 1/3

2 green marbles / 12 total marbles = 2/12 = 1/6

1 yellow  marbles / 12 total marbles = 1/12
