The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was one of a number of large river basin development projects that were launched in the 1930s. The generation of electricity helped to spur more industrial growth and commerce in the valley and the project helped with reforestation and the prevention of forest fires and promoted fertilizer development and erosion control that improved farming.

I also struggled with this question and I'm not 100% sure about my answer, but it's better than no answer. I used the little scale thing on the bottom right corner of the map. And I found out that by sea it was around 700 miles. And by land, I got around 350, but I rounded up to 400. Hopefully I was able to help... this stuff can be hard. I hate DBQ packets, but you gotta do your best.
