Answer:

Alienation is a common theme in Franz Kafka's work.

Explanation:

Alienation is a common theme in Franz Kafka's work. Franz Kafka was born in what's currently Czech Republic. He belonged to a jewish middle class family and he studied law because of family mandate. His most famous novels are The metamorphosis and The trial. In the trial his knowledge of law is evident. In all his work he portrays characters who are alienated or suffering. One can feel the despair the characters are going through. For example, in The metamorphosis the main character becomes an insect similar to a cockroach all of a sudden and cannot communicate nor express what's going on to his family. In The trial, the main character is being judged and he never knows why. He didn't do anything and no one explains him what was the crime. All the novel is profoundly sinked in despair. Kafka's life was not easy. His sisters were kidnapped by the Nazis and he had a very rough relationship with his father. All of this probably influenced his work.
