Answer:

Alienation is a common theme in Franz Kafka's work.

Explanation:

Alienation is a common theme in Franz Kafka's work. Franz Kafka was born in what's currently Czech Republic. He belonged to a jewish middle class family and he studied law because of family mandate. His most famous novels are The metamorphosis and The trial. In the trial his knowledge of law is evident. In all his work he portrays characters who are alienated or suffering. One can feel the despair the characters are going through. For example, in The metamorphosis the main character becomes an insect similar to a cockroach all of a sudden and cannot communicate nor express what's going on to his family. In The trial, the main character is being judged and he never knows why. He didn't do anything and no one explains him what was the crime. All the novel is profoundly sinked in despair. Kafka's life was not easy. His sisters were kidnapped by the Nazis and he had a very rough relationship with his father. All of this probably influenced his work.

Use details from the story to describe the appearance of the old man's eye and how it
Lisa [10]

Answer:

In The Tell Tale Heart, by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator describes the eye as a film-covered, pale blue eye, like "the eye of a vulture." The narrator says that in order to rid himself of the eye forever, he needed to kill the old man. Many professors and experts agree that the eye symbolizes the aspects of himself that the narrator doesn't want to face/confront.

What type of figurative language is used in Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe? (provide an example)
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

Annabel Lee' is a poem by American Gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe. The poem was written in 1849 and was probably written about his wife, Virginia Poe, who died two years earlier. The poem tells a story of a young man (the narrator) who is in love with Annabel Lee. They live together in a kingdom by the sea, and they are very happy and in love. Their love is so wonderful that the angels are jealous of them, and they send a cold chill that kills Annabel Lee. The narrator is devastated by the loss of his love.

Figurative language uses literary devices to go beyond the actual meaning of the words and phrases. It is often used in literature and is the opposite of literal language, which tells things exactly as they are. Figurative language is used in literature because it can give new and hidden meaning to a story. While there are many different types of figurative language, in this lesson we'll look closely at uses and examples of symbolism, hyperbole, personification, and alliteration from 'Annabel Lee.'

Read the excerpt from the “Conclusion” of Walden.
Vladimir79 [104]
Walden is optimist and he only believes in a better future. He thinks if you aspire to the dream, one day you will achieve success. Wolden also reckons that sometimes you need to leave some things (and maybe some people) to achieve your goals. In addition, he claims that new or updated laws will be better than old laws.
