What is one advantage of NAT?

Answer:

(a) The company can lease fewer public IP addresses.

Explanation:

NAT (Network Address Translation) allows one or multiple private IP addresses to be mapped (via a router) into one or fewer public IP addresses that can be used by networking devices on the internet.

In the IPv4 domain, there are more networking devices than there are public IP addresses and imagine that all these devices need to connect to the internet using these public IP addresses. Without NAT, this is impossible.

With NAT these networking devices can make use of private addresses that can in turn be mapped to a fewer public addresses for use on the internet. This is as a matter of fact, the biggest advantage of NAT. Therefore, the company in charge of NAT just needs to lease only a few public IP addresses and by so doing, there are enough public IP addresses left for other potential devices and the public addresses are not completely used up.

Answer:

a. The company can lease fewer public IP addresses.

Explanation:

A network is an interconnection or intercommunication of network devices within a specific location. There are different types of networks, they are local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) etc.

The LAN is a network in a small area, while WAN covers a very large area or distance.

The LAN uses private IP addresses that are not routable on the internet and subscribing for public IP addresses (which are routable on the internet) on all computers in a network, would be expensive and would cause traffic congestion.
