The Napoleonic Code is a civil code published by Napoleon Bonaparte in France 1804, in which many of the ideas of the Revolution had been examined and corrected.
Article 745 of the code states that: <em>children inherit in the first degree to their parents, mothers, grandparents, without distinction of sex or birthright, and even if they arise from different marriages will be equal successors.</em>
