How do you write a compair and contrast essay
frez [133]
For a compare and contrast essay, you will need you have two subjects to write about. Usually they are related in some way. For example, a compare and contrast essay could be about baseball vs. softball. You will need to know enough information and facts about both sides to form the comparing and contrasting. This is not a persuasive essay, so do not include which you believe is better and why. Only compare and contrast (as the type of essay is) the facts about the subjects.

For example, if I were writing about baseball vs. softball I could say something like this:

Baseball is America's favorite sport. Many people watch and play this sport. However, there is also the game softball. More people are playing baseball than softball. It's interesting to find out why this is, since they both have similarities and also differences. For example, baseball uses a smaller ball while softball uses a much larger one....

Do you see how that is structured? I didn't say which I preferred, and got into the facts right away. This is what a compare and contrast essay should be. The similarities vs. the differences.

I hope this helps.
