The <em>tone </em>of this passage would be somewhere along the lines of determined,

ready, prepared, calm under pressure.

What words give the passage it's tone: "She straightened her jacket and strode out the door". That sentence gives off the impression that she is ready to accomplish whatever goal she has set.

"She was ready, firm in her goal. She would nail this interview and walk out the door with an offer". This sentence shows her effort and determination in her mind.

How it contributes to the passage: Even after several of the unfortunate events that had happened to the character that morning, she was still determined at in that achieving mindset when she prepared to leave that morning.
