The health implications of obesity in the United States are alarming. If things continue as they are today, a third of all children can suffer from diabetes at some time in their lives. Many others are likely to face chronic health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and asthma. Studies indicate that overweight youth can never reach a healthy weight and up to 70% of obese adolescents can become obese adults.
