World History

Exploration and Expansion

Exploration and Expansion

For thousands of years the major civilizations of the world thrived in isolation from one another. These civilizations had very little contact with one another, and in many cases had no knowledge of each other.

This all began to change during the Dark Ages. Both Western Europe and China began to send out explorers in an effort to learn about the world around them. These explorers helped to expand the knowledge of their people.

As a result of their explorations, trade routes opened up between civilizations. Each nation specialized in certain types of products and goods. These goods would be shipped to far away nations in exchange for the goods that they specialized in.

tankabanditka [31]

Agriculture and textile factories impacted the economic development of South Carolina in several ways:

i) The textile industries and factories that had emerged before the civil war became very important in the history of South Carolina. There was a ready supply of raw materials, and change of attitude towards the development of industry which led to the growth of textile industries in South Carolina.

ii) The emergence and growth of agricultural and textile industries led to urban development and the rise of the population through migrant migration and a natural increase due to increased food production.

Use the chart to answer the question. Which battle is considered a turning point in the war? Date Battle Result April 19, 1775 L
Y_Kistochka [10]
The correct answer is the Battle of Saratoga.

The Battle of Saratoga, which took place in October of 1777, was considered a turning point for multiple reasons. For one, it was one of the first times that the American colonists were able to get the British military to surrender. Another reason why it is a turning point is this battle showed France that the American colonists actually had a shot at defeating the British. After this battle, the French send support to the American colonists. This support from the French is critical to the success of the American colonists in the Revolutionary War.
