Captain John Smith was an explorer, author and English soldier. He served as the leader of Virginia colony and Chesapeake Bay in 1608-1609. His books and maps were helpful for the English settlers in the new world. He trained people in the Jamestown colony so that they could grow their own food and survive. It was due to strength of his character that the settlers of the colony managed to survive the lack of water, harsh weather, wilderness and the attacks of Powhatan Indian tribes.
