<h3>Answer: No it is not a run-on sentence</h3>

At a first glance, the long length of the sentence seems to suggest it is a run-on. This is misleading because we basically have one thought being expressed. That thought is "you should try the soup".

The first part "If you have a hankering for a delicious bowl of soup" is the dependent clause which relies on the rest of the sentence (independent clause). The independent clause looks like a run-on all by itself, but it's just in the form of "you should try the soup made of x, y and z" where you replace the letters x,y,z with the ingredients listed. I'm paraphrasing this part of course. Another way you could paraphrase the whole thing is "if you are craving soup, then you should try french onion soup made of various ingredients". I'm sure you can probably get more creative.

How does the characterization of cyril contribute to the satire in “The Storyteller.”?
Over [174]

The correct answer is A.

H. H. Munro, also known by his pen name "Saki", was born in Burma but had to move to England after the sudden death of his mother.

His stories are usually a criticism and a satire of the Edwardian England in which he grew up.

In "The Storyteller" he satirizes society's values when it comes to raising and educating children. He uses the constant questions posed by Cyril to contribute to the satire of the story and to allude to the theme of questioning authority.

Read the passage from "Marriage Is a Private Affair" by
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

O How fathers and sons interact in this culture during this  period .

Explanation:

An analytical approach to any writing based on the feminist and historical perspective will mainly focus on how the different <u>gender issues are taken into account and treated at that particular time in history</u>. This allows the presentation of how men and women were treated and how these differences functions in society.

In Chinua Achebe's <em>Marriage Is A Private Affair</em>, the main issue is that of a man marrying the choice of his father according to what is believed and followed by their village's customs and traditions. Nnaemeka is expected to marry his neighbor's daughter who is selected by his father as a 'good woman' and 'wife-material', a good Christian who's had "<em>proper Christian upbringing"</em>. And in the letter sent by the father, it is evident that issues such as marriage were discussed more like a business transaction rather than a matter of love. The given <u>excerpt shows how fathers and sons interact with each other in their culture, during that period. </u>

Which of the following demonstrates proper parallelism? Question options: Julie judges people both by what they say and by their
ZanzabumX [31]

Answer:

Julie judges people both by their words and by their actions.

Explanation:

Parallelism refers to the use of sentence components that are grammatically identical or similar in structure, sound, meaning, or meter. It is considered to be one of the fundamental principles of grammar and rhetoric, adding symmetry, effectiveness, and balance to the text. Examples of parallelism can be found in literary works and everyday conversations alike. A well-known example of parallelism is the Latin saying translated as<em> I </em><u><em>came</em></u><em>, I </em><u><em>saw</em></u><em>, I </em><u><em>conquered</em></u><em>.</em> Here we have the repetition of the past simple tense.

Two sentences we were given are a good example of the presence and the lack of parallelism. There is no parallelism in <em>Julie judges people both by what they say and by their actions. </em>It would've been better had the sentence said <em>Julie judges people both </em><u><em>by what they say</em></u><em> and </em><u><em>by what they do</em></u><em>.</em> There we have identical structures. <em>Julie judges people both </em><u><em>by their words</em></u><em> and </em><u><em>by their actions</em></u> is a good example of parallelism.
