Demographic shifting can be caused by the environment, politics, civil rights, and societal attitudes. Specific examples would be as women in America gained civil rights, and the attitude on a woman’s role changed from an at-home-mom to a working woman, the birth rates decreased. Another event would be a political/government change. Communist China at one point put a limit on the number of children a family can have. This caused a demographic shift.
