What is McCulloch vs Maryland?

This case, decided by the Supreme Court in 1819, asserted national supremacy vis-Ã-vis state action in areas of constitutionally granted authority. Maryland had placed a prohibitive tax on the bank notes of the Second Bank of the United States. When the Maryland courts upheld this law, the Bank, in the name of its Baltimore branch cashier James W. McCulloch, appealed to the Supreme Court. Daniel Webster, with William Pinkney, argued the case on behalf of the Bank. Chief Justice John Marshall wrote the unanimous opinion of the Court. He stated first that the Constitution gave Congress the power to make ‘all laws … necessary and proper’ to carry out the specific powers conferred on Congress in Article I, Section 8. Incorporating Alexander Hamilton’s doctrine of ‘broad construction’ of the Constitution, Marshall wrote, ‘Let the end be legitimate, let it be within the scope of the constitution, and all means which are appropriate, … which are not prohibited, … are constitutional.’ Since the Bank was a lawful instrument of specific federal authority, the law creating the Bank was constitutional.

Marshall then pointed to Article VI of the Constitution, which says that the Constitution is the ‘supreme Law of the Land; … any Thing in the … Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.’ Stating that ‘the power to tax involves the power to destroy,’ he said that the states ‘have no power, by taxation or otherwise, to impede, or … control’ the laws of the federal government, and thus the law ‘imposing a tax on the Bank of the United States, is unconstitutional and void.’

The electoral college system benefits state governments by
mrs_skeptik [129]
The answer looks it might be B. Why?

- Choice A: The Electoral College does not encourage the citizens of the US to vote in state level elections.

- Choice C: The Electoral College does not increase national political attention on individual states, although the Electoral College in the 2016 election did ignite a national debate on whether or not the US should keep the Electoral College system.

- Choice D: The Electoral College does not provide federal revenue to state-run educational programs.

- Choice E: The Electoral College does not act as a liasion for communication between state and national legislators since it is not a "physical" system.

• Additional Information:

--- The purpose of the Electoral College is to be a compromise between the election of the president by the vote of Congress and the popular vote of the people.

--- The founding fathers established the Electoral College in the United States Constitution, believing that it would be both a buffer and provide fair power to all states regardless of size.

Organizations tend to increase the amount of planning and control closer to the point of execution when:_____.
aliya0001 [1]

Organizations tend to increase the amount of planning and control closer to the point of execution when a mechanistic approach to organizing is used.

What is a mechanistic approach?

 • The mechanistic approach considers a series of transformations whose form is derived from simple stimulus configuration experiments.
 • The form of the transformation is derived from consideration of the problem that color vision is attempting to solve in the computational approach.
 • When a mechanistic approach to organizing is used, organizations tend to increase the amount of planning and control closer to the point of execution.
 • By converting human behavior into a pattern of stimulus-response, mechanistic physiology incorporated the living body into this causal system.
 • Thus, the stimulus was thought to impinge on a specific sense organ, which then transmitted sensations to the brain, resulting in a predictable perception.

Therefore, organizations tend to increase the amount of planning and control closer to the point of execution when a mechanistic approach to organizing is used.

We are the sons of liberty and we cannot take any more of what you are doing to our people. It is not fair that you get to put taxes on stuff such as tea as we say “no taxation without representation”. If you fail to change we will change to violence and throw your tea in the ocean.
