The preparation of the production of the Greek Play we may say that theatrical performances were considered civic ceremonies in ancient Greek, therefore the state paid salaries to actors. Additional expenses of productions are paid by producers on a rotating basis. Producers are normally appointed by lot in July to playwright, giving them ample time to prepare the play for the festivals that come up during winter and spring.
