What economic factors influenced territorial expansion during the age of imperialism

History

Answer:

During the age of imperialism world powers wanted to expand the amount of land they had control over. This was done for prestige and for economic benefits. The country that had more territory or colonies would have more raw materials and better trade power than a country with no colonies and not as much territory. This was all done so that the imperial country could mass produce goods with the raw materials from other continents and that led to more wealth being generated for them in return. After making the goods they would then sell the finished goods to the colonies that helped produce them. All of this meant that these nations could get richer without raising taxes or changing policies.
