Inside the Earth lies molten core. High percentage of the core is iron. This iron rotates around the center and create magnetic field. This field extends out of the Earth into the space. Answer: The reason this states have so many earthquakes is the fact of where they are located in the region of these states the earth surface has relatively thin crust and has high heat flow, both of which can favor relatively high deformation rates and active faulting. Unlike the opposite side of the states which has a colder much thicker crust which causes less fault formation and deformation of the crust.
