Answer:

The speed of the cyclist is 10 miles per hour .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The distance cover by cyclist = D_1= 20 miles

The distance cover by biker =  D_2 = 6 miles

The speed of biker = S_2 = s  mph

The speed of cyclist = S_1= 7 + s  mph

The time taken by both cyclist and biker =  t hour

Now. Distance = Speed × Time

So,  D_1 =   S_1 × t

Or, 20 = s × t

Or, t = \frac{20}{7+s}             .....1

And ,

D_2 =   S_2 × t

or, 6 = s t

Or,  t = \frac{6}{s}  ....2

From Eq  1 and 2

I.e \frac{20}{7+s} = \frac{6}{s}

Or, 20 s = 6 ( 7 + s )

Or, 20 s - 6 s = 42

Or, 14 s = 42

∴   s = \frac{42}{14}

I,e s = 3 miles per hour

So, The speed of biker = S_2 = s = 3 miles per hour

And The speed of cyclist = S_1= 7 + s = 7 + 3= 10 miles per hour

Hence The speed of the cyclist is 10 miles per hour . Answer

What is the value of the expression |a + b| + |c| when a = –6, b = 2, and c = –11?
iVinArrow [24]
The answer is D. -15 because I am assuming that the vertical lines mean brackets, and we have to work out the brackets first (according to BIDMAS). Doing so, -6 + 2 = -4 and -4 + -11 = -15.

You and your best friend are meeting at
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

  10.6 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

The corner where Starbucks is located could be considered to be the right angle in a right triangle having legs of 8 miles (distance to you) and 7 miles (distance to your friend). The straight-line distance (d) from you to your friend is the hypotenuse of that triangle. Its length can be found from the Pythagorean theorem.

  d² = 8² +7²

  d² = 64 +49 = 113

  d = √113 ≈ 10.6

You and your friend are about 10.6 miles from each other.

An opaque cylindrical tank with an open top has a diameter of 3.25 m and is completely filled with water. When the afternoon Sun
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

10.69

Step-by-step explanation:

We must first know that the angle of refraction is given by the following equation:

n_water * sin (A_water) = n_air * sin (A_air)

where n is the refractive index, for water it is 1.33 and for air it is 1.

The angle (A) in the air is 22.8 °, and that of the water is unknown.

Replacing these values we have to:

1.33 * sin (A_water) = 1 * 0.387

sin (A_water) = 1 * 0.387 / 1.33

A_water = arc sin (0.2907) = 16.9 °

now for the tank depth:

h = D / tan (A_water)

D = 3.25

Replacing

h = 3.25 / tan 16.9 °

h = 10.69

Therefore the depth is 10.69 meters.
