Hernan Cortez ( 1485-1547) was a Spanish explorer that conquered the Aztec Empire. In February of 1519, he arrived at the coast of Mexico with 500 men and 11 ships. He battled against some native Indian tribes and then some enemies of the Aztecs became allies to Cortez. That was the case of the Tlaxcanteans and Cholulans, who joined its armies to overthrew Moctezuma Emperor and defeated the Aztec Empire.
