When it was attached to the Constitution, it allayed fears of that the National Government would not respect their rights. It forbade National Government from overstepping people’s rights. The attachment of the Bill also gained the support of the people that enabled the Constitution to be ratified and paved the way to a new Constitution. It is an important feature because the Bill prohibits Government from taking away our rights to free speech or to choose our religion. In the long term, the Bill of Rights taught us to value our rights.
