I'm sure Joel pays more than $25/mo for rent.  But assuming that the monthly rent actually is $25/mo, then the percentage of his $1700 monthly income that goes to rent is

  $25
--------- * 100% = 1.47% (very unlikely).
$1700

If he pays $25/mo, then the answer would be 14.71% (more realistic).

To complete the proof :

Solution :

Following are the complete steps or proof of solving the given expression,

\frac{1}{2}(8x+14)=39  is given

4x + 7 = 39 - distributive property

4x = 32 - subtraction property of equality

Hannah claims that people who live in southern states spend 9 hours more per week outside than do people in northern states. She
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

b. Hannah is likely to be incorrect because 9 is not contained in the interval.

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

Hannah estimated per CI the difference between the average time that people spend outside in southern states and the average time people spend outside in northern states.

The CI is a method of estimation of population parameters that propose a range of possible values for them. The confidence level you use to construct the interval can be interpreted as, if you were to calculate 100 confidence interval, you'd expect that 99 of them will contain the true value of the parameter of interest.

In this example, the 99%CI resulted [0.4;8.0]hs

Meaning that with a 99% confidence level you'd expect the value of the difference between the average time people from southern states spend outside than the average time people from northern states spend outside is included in the interval [0.4;8.0]hs.

Now, she claims that people living in southern states spend 9 more hours outside than people living in northern states, symbolized μ₁ - μ₂ > 9

Keep in mind that if you were to test her claim, the resulting hypothesis test would be one-tailed

H₀: μ₁ - μ₂ ≤ 9

H₁: μ₁ - μ₂ > 9

And that the calculated Ci is tow-tailed, so it is not valid to use it to decide over the hypotheses pair. This said, considering that the calculated interval doesn't contain 9, it is most likely that Hannah's claim is incorrect.

I hope this helps!

According to a study conducted by the Gallup Organization, the the proportion of Americans who are afraid to fly is 0.10. A rand
notsponge [240]

Answer: 0.1457

Step-by-step explanation:

Let p be the population proportion.

Given: The proportion of Americans who are afraid to fly is 0.10.

i.e. p= 0.10

Sample size : n= 1100

Sample proportion of Americans who are afraid to fly =\hat{p}=\dfrac{121}{1100}=0.11

We assume that the population is normally distributed

Now, the probability that the sample proportion is more than 0.11:

P(\hat{p}>0.11)=P(\dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}}>\dfrac{0.11-0.10}{\sqrt{\dfrac{0.10(0.90)}{1100}}})\\\\=P(z>\dfrac{0.01}{0.0090453})\ \ \ [\because z=\dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}} ]\\\\=P(z>1.1055)\\\\=1-P(z\leq1.055)\\\\=1-0.8543=0.1457\ \ \ [\text{using z-table}]

Hence, the probability that the sample proportion is more than 0.11 = 0.1457
