The first steel mill in the United States was set up in Northeast states of Pennsylvania, New York and Ohio as there were closer to coal mines.

Further Explanation:

Wood charcoal was available throughout eastern states of the US and iron smelters were present closer to the iron ore. During the colonial era, Big iron ores were present in these areas but as time went by, their deposits decreased and eventually vanished. The majority of the Iron ore smelters before the period of 1850 took place near Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. New Jersey was among the major iron ore district whereas Pennsylvania was rich in deposits of anthracite coal. In the year 1840, George W. Scranton and Seldon T. Scranton moved to Pennsylvania and established an iron forge. Big iron Ore deposits were made around lake superior that was located very far from these coal deposits. These iron ore deposits were transferred to the ports which were present at the Southern great lakes and were more closer to the coal mines of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois.

The first steel mills in the United States were built in the Northeast. There were reasons why they were built there. The Northeast was not well suited for farming. The climate is cold, and the soil is rocky. It is very hard to farm there. As a result, the Northeast was a region with lots of industry, trade, and fishing.

Explain at least three reasons why germany invaded belgium and then france in july of 1914
lana [24]

Answer:

Belgium wouldn't allow Germany passage through their territory.

Belgium wanted to remain neutral to both sides and allowing Germans passage to France was not remaining neutral to France.

Germany invaded France because they had declared war on them but when invading Belgium to get into France, they broke the treaty of London which is why Great Britain entered the war.

France was allied with Russia which is why Germany declared war against them. Hitler wanted to rule Russia and expand its empire, since France sided with Russia to defeat the expansion, Germany called for a war against them, thus pulling France into WW2.

Hope this helps!
