A picture of an antimacassar is shown below. It is a cloth covering intended to protect the a chair. In the picture shown it is colored white. I don't think it is critically important other than to show that Mrs. White likes to keep her house clean, tidy and orderly.
As for which ones to choose, likely 5 and 6 would be about your best bet. Mrs. White has a very sharp tongue and she and Herbert are the most questioning. Four tells us how Herbert privately assesses the Sergeant Major. He is very questioning as is Mrs. White. So take your pick of 2,4,5 and 6
