U.S president W.H Bush implemented the decade of the brain to increase the awareness and promote the importance of neuroscience modern psychology. The decade of the brain was sponsored by Congressman Silvio Conti (R-Mass.).
It was recommended by the leaders of the neuroscience community and fully implemented by the U.S president W.H Bush in July 1990s.
The implementation was done in order to sustain brain research, which was important to prevent the large number of deliberating neural diseases and the effect it has on the growing populace. The decade of the brain has brought an exceptional rise in neuroscience visibility. The clinical benefits of the research findings have provided more incentives than the congressional mandate.
The decade of the brain implementation has brought about a forum to promote brain research. Part of the activities that help the DOB awareness was the annual DOB award by the society for neuroscience to an important figure from Washington. Other program that has helped to boost DOB awareness in the society is brain awareness week, which is sponsored by Dana alliance with grassroots support from the society for neuroscience.
This program is done annually and it has increased the visibility of DOB in the country at large. During this period, advocacy organizations for individuals’ diseases also became more visible within the society.
