Xy=2
x+y=-2
minus x

y=-2-x
sub
x(-2-x)=2
-2x-x^2=2
add 2x+x^2 both sides
0=x^2+2x+2
quadratic formula
if  you have
ax^2+bx+c=0
x=\frac{-b+/- \sqrt{b^{2}-4ac} }{2a}

x^2+2x+2
a=1
b=2
c=2
x=\frac{-2+/- \sqrt{2^{2}-4(1)(2)} }{2(1)}
x=\frac{-2+/- \sqrt{4-8} }{2}
x=\frac{-2+/- \sqrt{-4} }{2}
x=\frac{-2+/- \sqrt{-1}\sqrt{4} }{2}
remember √-1=i
x=\frac{-2+/- i\sqrt{4} }{2}
x=\frac{-2+/- 2i}{2}
x=-1+/-i

x=i-1 or -i-1

the 2 numbers are i-1 and -i-1

How would finding the least common multiple help you when dividing items into equal groups
Lemur [1.5K]
Equal groups means that different items will be divided in groups with the same number of items in it.
Example: we have 3 bananas and 5 apples. Finding the smallest common multiple<span> of the two integers 3 and 5, the </span>least common multiple (LCM) will give us the number of items that every group should have.
The LCM is 15.
We will have 15/3=5 groups of bananas with 3 bananas in each and 15/5=3 groups of apples with 5 apples in each.
