At the beginning of the First World War, United States policy was to be neutral and become a large scale supplier for Great Britain and its Allies. Its major contributions were in the form of supplies, raw material and money during 1917.Around 10000 men per day were sent to Western Front under the commandership of John Pershing, Commander-in Chief of AmericanExpeditionary Force. The world saw a noticeable growth of US Armed forces during the war. Americans banks were giving huge loan to Britain and France to buy food, raw material and weapons.

After the long efforts laid by President Woodrow Wilson, Americans entered the war on 6th April 1917.American's hated Germany and considered them as their aggressor. Americans never announced war on the central powers like Bulgaria, The Ottoman and various other central allies.

Wilson thought of entering the war was just to maintain peace and device his plan of League of Nation.

If I'm not mistaken, it was used as a neutral zone. Basically splitting hostiles from non-hostiles. It was also being used as a safe haven for the poor who couldn't pay taxes.

The 13th Amendment was the amendment that abolished slavery in 1864.  The problem with these Georgia's Black Codes is that they were just another way of keeping the blacks in a cycle of slavery. Slavery was prohibited in all instances except as a punishment for crime. Most of the African-Americans after the war have been jobless and this law basically made it possible for them to be arrested for being jobless and put to slavery once again.
