Answer:

A. That ancient land was located in the Middle East, a hot and sunny part of the world.

Explanation:

Options B through D simply do not make any sense. They overuse words, and are far too long. Sentence 2 starts off with "That ancient land was located in the Middle East." So it would make sense to start the revised sentence that way. Add "The Middle East" to sentence 1, and there you go.

Answer:

A. That ancient land was located in the Middle East, a hot and sunny part of the world.

Explanation:

It is grammatically correct and gets rid of the wordiness of two sentences.

Why the other choices are not as good:

B. That ancient land was located in the Middle East, and the Middle East is a hot and sunny part of the world.

This is basically the same as the original: there is nothing grammatically incorrect, but it is just too wordy.

C. A hot and sunny part of the world is the ancient land the Middle East.

This sentence changes it such that the focus is no longer on the ancient land or Middle East and rather on the "hot and sunny part".

D. Located in the Middle East, a hot and sunny part of the world, that ancient land.

This sentence is grammatically incorrect, because it has only a dependent clause.

Since all the needed points and rules that you need to follow are already given, I can only give you some tips, to be more exact what couple of protagonist and antagonist you can describe in your essay. I think it would be nice and quite interesting to take a conflict between Harry and Draco from ''Harry Potter book series'' as a basis. Even though at first sight Draco might seem as a foolish, stubborn and arrogant person who always resist Harry, he also has some good traits and circumstances which made him as he is. There are too many points to discuss between these personalities.
Hopw you will find it interesting.

AlladinOne [14]
The extended simile in the passage is: As when a circling wall the builder forms, Of strength defensive against wind and storms, Compacted stones the thickening work compose, And round him wide the rising structure grows

A simile is a figure of speech that compares one thing from another thing of a different kind. It adds meaning to the text because it emphasizes the:

a. strength of the wall - which is likened to being a barrier that can be used as protection from wind and storms

b. size of the structure - which was built with hours of hard work and construction materials that can withstand such great forces of war. HOPE THIS HELPED! :)
