Do you think it was right for the United States to drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Why or why not?
klemol [59]

Answer:

There are pros and cons to this question

Explanation:You can look at it in many different ways. Japan was not planning on surrendering any time soon. They believe that dying in combat is one of the most repectible deaths ever. If we did not bomb them, They would not have surrendered which would have lead to many more american deaths. Earlier in the war they bombed our naval base pearl harbor, so they started it. Thats the argument for bombing them.

The argument agains bombing them is that hiroshima and Nagasaki were huge cities. There were thousands of people in thise cities, Civilians. Japan did bomb us but they bombed a Naval base. So we punished the civilians of Japan and we Also punished the kids of those civilians because those bombs had radiation in them which affected the people that werent killed by the blast but were in the area that the radiation was at. The radiation affected those poeples unborn children, gave them birth defects and some of them died because of it.

So was it right? I think that the decision to bomb them was not an easy one. I think it took a lot of time to come to this decision. But overall it did end this war which most likely save a lot of american lives.
