Answering the question, one of the first duties of Jawaharlal Nehru’s as Indian’s prime minister was to <u>improve living standards for Indians</u>.

Jawaharlal Nehru’s became Indian’s first prime minister in 1947. He replaced Mohandas Gandhi and was in office till 1964 when he died.

Jawaharlal Nehru’s introduced different economic policies to improved Indian’s standard of the living.

Some of these policies include

  • He introduced several moderate Economic reforms
  • He introduced different policies that shaped industrialization in India.

Jawaharlal Nehru’s was a lawyer. He schooled in England and was born in Allahabad, a city in North India. He attended inner temple in London, where he studied law.  

In 1912, Jawaharlal Nehru went back to Indian after he completed his studies and began to practice law.  

In 1919, Nehru became a member of Indian national congress. The national Indian congress was a political party that was fighting towards the independent of India.  

The philosophy of his party leader, Mohandas Gandhi, greatly influenced Nehru and he was jailed repeatedly for civil disobedience.

Jawaharlal Nehru was also Indian’s foreign minister before he became the first prime minister of independent India.  

After death of Jawaharlal Nehru, his daughter became the prime minster but was later assassinated.
