In order to answer this question, you must have data for the electricity cost. For this example let's follow the electricity cost for USA. According to U.S Energy Information Administration, the an average home costs 12.3 cents per kW-h in January 2017. For consistency, convert year to hours. In a year (365 days), there are 8769 hours.

12.3 cents/kW-h * 0.5 kW * 8769 h = 53929.35 cents = $539.2935
