1. How does paraphrasing a poem make it easier to understand its main idea? Explain.

Poetry is a very abstract form of writing, often full of symbolism,  metaphors, and other rhetorical devices, so the main idea of poem may not always be so clear. When a poem is paraphrased, it will minimize the plethora of rhetoric and make the main idea vastly more clear.

Answer:

Featured snippet from the web:

Paraphrasing is a dual test of a poem. ... There are some words and sentence structure which does not easily translate and could distort the message of the poem. Thus, paraphrasing can help ensure the complete meaning, if not the actual words, is properly transcribed.

Commonlit ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE assessment answers
Nonamiya [84]

The story of Orpheus and Eurydice is one of the most beautiful and sad ones in Greek mythology.

Together, Orpheus and Eurydice leave the fiery underworld and its gods, Pluto and Proserpine. Eurydice, a viper bit her on the day of their wedding, "in the very flower of her life," and succumbed to the poison of the snake. Orpheus, a singer, musician, and poet, carried a lyre on his shoulder. Orpheus entered the underworld, driven by sadness and the desire to bring her back to life

. His eloquence "melted the hearts of the gods and the residents of the underworld, and everyone fell silent" as he begged Pluto and Proserpine for her return. Proserpine's feet are occupied by Cerberus, the vicious three-headed dog that guards the entrance to Hell.

Eurydice's return was approved by the gods, with Proserpine likely being sympathetic given her own forcible kidnapping by Pluto. The only restriction was that until Eurydice was well ensconced in the upper world, Orpheus was not allowed to look back at her. She would go back into Hell if he broke his oath.

As they traveled the steep, foggy route leading out of the underworld with their beloved, worried Orpheus looked back to see his bride, who had fallen, and said a final farewell before passing away once more. Because Eurydice now knew, Ovid writes in his Metamorphoses, "No rebuke escaped her lips."
