Bobby is hanging a cabinet above the washer and dryer in the laundry room. The cabinet is 3 1/2 feet wide and 2 feet tall. If he

wants to center the cabinet horizontally on the wall that is 6 1/4 feet wide, how far will the end of the cabinet be from the edge of the wall?

Answer:

1 3/8 ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>The cabinet's center will be at the same place as the wall's center</em>. The wall's center is at its <em>3 1/8 ft mark</em>. The cabinet's center will also be at the wall's 3 1/8 mark. This means that both sides of the cabinet is <em>1 3/4 around the center line</em> (if my wording is vague, look at the image). So, we have to find <em>3 1/8 - 1 3/4</em>, which is 1 3/8 ft.

I need some help with a geometry question. Help is very much appreciated!
Talja [164]
First off,congruent triangles are triangles that are equal to another,having the same area,length of sides and angles.

Judging visually,the triangles that are congruent would be:

C and E-as they are both in smaller size.
D and F-as they are both significantly irregular.

That would left A and B:

A-it is very large in size that none other could match
B-it is the only isosceles triangle.

Thus the answer is A and B as they do not match with any others.

Hope it helps!

consider the distribution of monthly social security (OASDI) payments. Assume a normal distribution with a standard deviation of
Orlov [11]

Answer:

\mu = x -  z(\sigma)

\mu = 1214.87 -  0.67(116) \\\\\mu = 1214.87 - 77.72 \\\\\mu = \$1137.15

Therefore, the mean monthly payment is $1137.15.

Step-by-step explanation:

What is Normal Distribution?

We are given a Normal Distribution, which is a continuous probability distribution and is symmetrical around the mean. The shape of this distribution is like a bell curve and most of the data is clustered around the mean. The area under this bell shaped curve represents the probability.

We are asked to find the mean monthly social security (OASDI) payment.

Mean monthly payment = μ = ?

We are given that the standard deviation is $116

One-fourth of payments are above $1214.87

One-fourth means 25%

P(X > x )= P(Z > z ) = 0.25\\\\P(X < x )= P(Z < z) = 1 - 0.25\\\\P(X < x )= P(Z < z) = 0.75\\\\

From the z-table, the z-score corresponding to 0.75 is found to be 0.67

z = 0.67

The mean is found by

x = \mu + z(\sigma)

\mu = x -  z(\sigma)

Where

x = $1214.87

z = 0.67

σ = $116

\mu = 1214.87 -  0.67(116) \\\\\mu = 1214.87 - 77.72 \\\\\mu = \$1137.15

Therefore, the mean monthly payment is $1137.15.
