Answer:

x=−1 and y=9

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the first equation by 3,and multiply the second equation by 1.

3(x−2y=−19)

1(−3x+5y=48)

Becomes:

3x−6y=−57

−3x+5y=48

Add these equations to eliminate x:

−y=−9

Then solve−y=−9for y:

−y=−9

(divide both sides by -1)

y=9

Now that we've found y let's plug it back in to solve for x.

Write down an original equation:

x−2y=−19

Substitute 9 for y in x−2y=−19:

x−(2)(9)=−19

x−18=−19(Simplify both sides of the equation)

x−18+18=−19+18(Add 18 to both sides)

x=−1

Answer:

x= -1

y = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

to solve this system of equation

let

x - 2y = -19.....................................equation 1

-3x + 5y = 48 .................................. equation2

from equation 1

x - 2y = -19.....................................equation 1

x = -19 + 2y................................... equation 3

substitute the value of x into equation 2

-3x + 5y = 48 .................................. equation2

-3(-19 + 2y) + 5y = 48

57 - 6y + 5y = 48

combine the like terms

-6y + 5y = 48 -57

-y = - 9

divide both side by -

y = 9

put y= 9 into equation 3

x = -19 + 2y................................... equation 3

x = -19 + 2(9)

x = -19 + 18

x = -1

therefore the value of x and y is -1 and 9 respectively

I need help on #16 and #14, when I did question 15 it was fine but I keep running into problems on how to solve 14 and 16
Inessa [10]
The area of a circle is pi*r^2.
The angles in a circle add up to 360 degrees.

Let's say I have a circle with radius 2.
The total area of the circle is pi* (2^2) = 4pi

Let's say I cut out 15 degrees of this circle. This piece is 15 out of 360 of the whole circle.

The area of this part is (15/360) * 4pi

The rest of the area is (360-15)/360 * 4pi.

I hope this helps.

What is the square root of 6 ?
Finger [1]
It's an irrational number ... it can never be written down on paper exactly.

The beginning of it is  2.449489...  and it keeps going forever.

You might think that using only part of a number in a problem makes your
answer wrong.  In a way that's true.  But if you use 2.449489 for the square-
root of 6, then your final answer is only about  0.00003  percent wrong, and
that's close enough ... even if you're building bridges or spacecraft.

"But", you say, "How can I hand in an answer on my homework that's wrong ?"

Here's a secret that's so big that nobody ever talks about it. Once you know it,
it'll change your whole way of thinking.  And you'll stop fishing for answers on
the internet:

The answers in homework don't matter !   The answer is the least important
part of any homework problem, and nobody needs it.  If your teacher needed
an answer, then he/she could get it a lot faster by working out the problem.
If he/she didn't have time to work on it, then the teacher would go to somebody
who knows it cold ... they certainly wouldn't ask somebody who's just learning
it for the first time.

The purpose of the homework is NOT to generate answers.  It's to lead you
down the path of learning how to do the problem.  When somebody else gives
you the answer and you hand it in, 2 things happen:

#1: you cheat;
#2: you don't learn anything.

It's a bad deal all around.

Please help me with these 5 questions!
kipiarov [429]

Answer:

Part 2) Option D. yes; k = 1/4 and y = 1/4x

Part 6) Option D. y = 1/5x-1

Part 8) Option C. line b

Part 11) Option D. -1/5

Part 15) Option A. line a

Step-by-step explanation:

Part 2) we know that

A relationship between two variables, x, and y, represent a directly variation if it can be expressed in the form  y=kx

In a proportional relationship the constant of proportionality k is equal to the slope m of the line and the line passes through the origin

In this problem the line passes through the origin

therefore

Yes. y varies directly with x

Let

A(4,1)

The constant k is equal to

k=y/x

substitute

k=1/4

the equation is equal to

y=(1/4)x

Part 6) we know that

The y-intercept of the trend line is -1 (For x=0)

The slope of the trend line is positive

The x-intercept of the trend line is 5 (For y=0)

therefore

the equation is equal to

y=(1/5)x-1

Part 8) we have

y+4=-\frac{2}{3}x

This is the equation of a line into point slope form

The slope is negative m=-2/3

Pass through the point (0,-4) ----> y-intercept

The x-intercept is equal to

0+4=-\frac{2}{3}x

x=-4*3/2=-6

therefore

Is the line b

Part 11)

What is the slope of the line through the points (–2, –1) and (8, –3)?

we know that

The formula to calculate the slope between two points is equal to

m=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}

substitute the values

m=\frac{-3+1}{8+2}

m=\frac{-2}{10}

simplify

m=-\frac{1}{5}

Part 15) we have

y=3x-2

The slope is positive m=3

The y-intercept is -2 (For x=0)

The x-intercept is  (For y=0)

0=3x-2

3x=2

x=2/3

therefore the line is a
