Read these lines from "The Flea" by John Donne and answer the questions that follow:
Lady_Fox [76]

Look at this flea, and you'll understand that what you're denying me is very trivial. The flea sucked my blood first and then it sucked your blood. Now our bloods are mingled in the flea's blood. This mixing of bloods is not a sin or anything to be ashamed of. The flea now grows big with a new life inside it. The little bloodsucking flea has achieved much more than what we as lovers have attained.

What does this quote mean to you? And what was this quote intended to portray?
dedylja [7]
To me it means as a sign for inspiration and honor, and i believe the way the quote was intended to portray is-- Without America fighting for their freedom, risking everything and every life, they wouldn't have been known as people who took a stand and fought for what they deserved. It stands in history as monument to everyone around the world that freedom is always hard fought, but without the courage and the strength to truly want what you feel you deserve and therefore earned....be prepared to lose everything.

I realize that I will be able to contact them at any time, but I am saddened that I will not be able to meet them face to face. My good friend and companion, Robee, will likewise be difficult to bear." I'm sorry, but I must refuse him this opportunity. However, thank you very much for making me aware of your promise to take care of him while I'm away! You two will get along famously. If you give Robee a lot of belly massages, please do so for me, too. It is time for me to get my belongings and return to my home, but I will be in touch shortly.

From a sincere buddy, I like you.
