What is the irrational number in This set: 12.89, square root of 12 and 12/144 ?
kifflom [539]
Good night,

<span>Irrational numbers are those that can't be expressed as a fraction:

12.89 can be expressed as: </span>\frac{1289}{100}

\frac{12}{144}= \frac{1}{12}

<span>The above numbers can be expressed as a fraction, then the logical answer is: </span>\sqrt{12}

But we will check the answer:

\sqrt{12}= \sqrt{2^{2}*3 }  =2* \sqrt{3} =3.4641016...

As you can see we can't express that number as a fraction, so that is te correct answer.

Martin says that f(x)=2(4)^x starts at 4 and has a constant ratio of 2. What error did Martin make? Explain.
grigory [225]

Answer:

A general exponential equation is written as:

f(x) = A*(r)^x

Where:

A is the initial value, this is the value that the function takes when x = 0.

r is the rate of growth

x is the variable.

In this case, the function is:

f(x) = 2*(4)^x

The initial value is:

f(0) = 2*(4)^0 = 2*1 = 2

The initial value is 2.

And the rate of growth is 4.

So Martin seems to mixed these two values (he said initial value = 4, and rate  = 2, which is the opposite of what we found)

What expression represents the quotient?
Olenka [21]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

\frac{5x^2+8x+7}{4x}

Divide each term on the numerator by 4x

= \frac{5x^2}{4x} + \frac{8x}{4x} + \frac{7}{4x}

= \frac{5x}{4} + 2 + \frac{7}{4x}
