In "Forgetfulness", by Billy Collins, the possible theme of the poem is<em> D. Retiring, packing a bag, and floating down a river are similar to losing one's memory</em>. Lost memories are compared to someone retiring to a fishing place without phones, so we cannot reach them. There is a personification when he writes that the memory of the quadratic equation "pack its bag".
