Australia has 6 states and 2 territories whereas China has 23 provinces. Australia is a federal parliamentary democracy and a commonwealth realm and China is a communist state.

Australia's high court, the chief justice and 6 other justices are appointed by the governor general acting on the advice of the government.

China has a Supreme People's court, judges appointed by the National People's Congress.
