Absolute dating uses scientific methods to gain a high precision reading of the rocks true age. It is a quantitative method. Radiometric dating, amino acid dating and carbon dating are used. Relative dating is done by arranging the strata of geology to determine the rough estimate of the age of a rock. Absolute dating can be used on the rock without being present at the sight as there is no need to see it position to other geological strata to discover its age.
