Given: (a-1)^3+(a-1)^2=a(a-1)^2

Step 1) Expanding (a-1)^3 by using difference of the cube formula

We know,  (x-y)^2= x^3 - y^3 -3x^2y+3xy^2.

Therefore, (a-1)^3 = (a)^3-(1)^2 -3(a)^2(1) +3(x)(1)^2=a^3 -1 -3a^2 +3x

Now, expanding (a-1)^2 by using formula of (x-y)^2

(x-y)^2= x^2 - 2xy + y^2.

Therefore,

(a-1)^2 = a^2-2a + 1

On the left side we get

a^3-3a^2+3a-1+a^2-2a + 1    ( Please put this expression in first box)

Step 2) Combining like terms,

a^3-2a^2+a                              ( Please put this expression in second box)

Step 3) Factoring out gcf a, we get

a (a^2-2a+1)                              ( Please put this expression in third box)

Step 4)

Factoring out a^2 -2a+1, (a-1)(a-1).

a(a-1)(a-1)                                     ( Please put this expression in fourth box)

(a-1)(a-1) equals (a-1)^2 because (a-1) is two times there.

Finally, we are given a(a-1)^2 = a(a-1)^2 in last expression on the board.

Assuming that a soap bubble is a perfect sphere, what is the diameter of a bubble containing 1,000 cm3 of air? Round to the near
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

17.85 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Area of a sphere formula: A=4\pi r^{2}

2) Plug in A: 1000 = 4\pi r^{2}

3) Simplify: 1000 = 12.56r^{2}

4) Divide Each Side By 12.56: 79.61783439 = r^{2}

5) Take the Square Root of 79.61783439 to Solve for r: 8.922882628 = r

6) Double r to get the diameter: 8.922882628*2= 17.84576486

7) Round to the Nearest Tenth: 17.85 cm

On a coordinate plane, a line goes through (0, negative 3) and (3, negative 2). A point is at (negative 4, 2).
bulgar [2K]

Answer:

Correct option: first one -> y = (1/3)x + (10/3)

Step-by-step explanation:

The linear function that represents a line is:

y = ax + b

Where a is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

First we need to find the slope of the line that goes through (0, -3) and (3, -2).

Using both points, we can find the equation of the line:

x = 0 -> y = -3

-3 = a*0 + b

b = -3

x = 3 -> y = -2

-2 = 3a - 3

3a = 1

a = 1/3

The parallel line needs to have the same slope as the line, so we can model the parallel line with the following equation:

y = (1/3)x + b

The parallel line goes through the point (-4, 2), so we have:

x = -4 -> y = 2

2 = (1/3)*(-4) + b

b = 2 + (4/3)

b = 10/3

So the equation of the parallel line is:

y = (1/3)x + (10/3)

Correct option: first one
