Both the Silk Road and the Indian Ocean Trade Network were networks of trade roads connecting those who wanted goods with those who already had them. There were many trade routes in the Indian Ocean, just as there were many trade routes along the Silk Road.
The trading network in the Indian Ocean, however, was larger, wealthier, and comprised of a wider range of elements.
