Why do you think the declaration of independence amounted to a declaration of war against Great Britain?

The Declaration of Independence was taken as a declaration of war against Britain because the King felt like he did a lot for the people and they were being ungrateful, so he wanted to show them that they wouldn't make it without him, the war was meant to break the people and make them come back under his rule.
