No, I don't believe it would've happened. Because they brought some of the bacteria to cause the plague and after the plague was the Renaissance but I'm not completely sure.

To colonize is to settle in, and take control of, land outside your own borders. There are many examples through history of powerful countries that colonized various regions of the world in order to gain natural resources or to obtain more land for their citizens to live in.
If the war never happened many unnecessary deaths could've been avoided. Also the public would've probably had more support for the president.
