Answer:

Third side is 9m.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a right triangle the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides.

15 x 15= 225m2

12 x 12 = 144m2

225 - 144 = 81m2 and the length of the third side is square root of 81, which would be 9m as your final answer.

Answer:

Follow the Pythagoreas theorm. You typically need to find C^2, which is the hypotonuse, but because we already know this, we can rearrange the equation to make sense.

Personally, I like to substitute with non-related numbers, such as 1 and 2. In the following example, the sides are 1 unit, 2 units, and 5 units. First, I like to figure out the sum of a^2 and b^2 .

EX: 1^2+2^2= 5

25^2=5

I can rearrange this so that one leg and the hypotenuse are on the same side:

25^2-1^2=2^2

Now I can take out the example numbers, and substiture in the variables.

c^2-a^2=b^2

Now all I have to do is fill in the known variables!

15^2-12^2=b^2

Solve!

225-144=80

We're not done- we have to find the square root of 81!

It's 9m!

Finally, we can check our work by plugging A^2 and B^2 into the normal equation. It checks out!

12^{2} +9^{2} = 15^{2} \\=225             =225\\225=225

21. Which fractions are NOT equivalent?<br> À3/6=2/4<br> -B1/8=1/4<br> C1/3=2/6 D1/4=3/12
ryzh [129]
<h3>Answer: Choice B) 1/8 and 1/4 are not equivalent</h3>

=======================================================

Explanation:

There are two ways to check to see if two fractions are equal.

---------

Method 1) Cross multiplication

3/6 = 2/4

3*4 = 6*2

12 = 12

The last equation is true, so the first equation is true. This shows 3/6 and 2/4 are the same fraction

1/8 = 1/4

1*4 = 8*1

4 = 8

The last equation is false, so 1/8 = 1/4 is false. We found our answer.

1/3 = 2/6

1*6 = 3*2

6 = 6

This equation is true. So we can move on

1/4 = 3/12

1*12 = 4*3

12 = 12

A similar story happens with A and C.

---------

Method 2) Comparing decimal forms

Using a calculator, we can find the decimal form of any fraction

3/6 = 0.5 and 2/4 = 0.5; since we get the same decimal value both times, this means 3/6 = 2/4 is a true statement. Choice A is ruled out.

1/8 = 0.125 and 1/4 = 0.25; we get different decimal values, so we can see that choice B is the answer

1/3 = 0.333.... (the 3s go on forever) and 2/6 = 0.333... we have the same story as choice A, so we can rule out choice C.

1/4 = 0.25 and 3/12 = 0.25, same story as A and C. We can rule out choice D.

(3) Last Sunday 1,675 people visited the amusement park. 56% of the visitors were adults, 16% were teenagers, and 28% were child
ELEN [110]

Answer:

adults= 938, teens = 268, children= 469

Step-by-step explanation:

line up your givens like this:

1,675 visitors = 100%

? adults = 56%

? teenagers = 16%

? children = 28%

cross-multiply

adults*100 = 1,675*56

teens*100 = 1,675*16

children*100 = 1,675*28

divide each side by 100

adults= 1,675*56/100

teens = 1,675*16/100

children= 1,675*28/100

solve

adults= 938, teens = 268, children= 469

Hope this helps!
