One method used by the allies to contribute to the hoax involving  the d day landing was to feed Germany with false information through the use of Nazi double agents; other method was to plant fictional radio transmissions about movements of the troops;  they also planted dummy inflatable Sherman tanks and dummy landing crafts.

They opposed immiegration which was the source of labor for factories pushing craftsmen out of work. 

They were not successful as factories created cheaper items at a faster rate than the craftsmen could. The country was growing economically under the factory system and owners of those industries gained political power.
