Jacob=5 5/6 ft
Linda=5 1/4

So to find out the difference, we first have to make the fractions equivalent.

5/6x2/3=10/12
1/4x3/3=3/12

Now we subtract.

5 10/12-5 3/12
=7/12

Jacob is 7/12 ft taller than Linda.
