san4es73 [151]
The effect of land policies by Georgia included the head-right system, land lotteries, and the Yazoo land fraud. The headright system is the system that gave land to the settlers from the Indians and each man counted as one "head" of the household and could acquire up to 1,000 acres of land. This was replaced by the Land Lottery, which was any man 21 years and older could buy a change to spin a wheel, and any family with widows, children, or people who have served the country could get more chances than others. Also, the Yazoo land fraud was when people bribed others to pass a bill that let companies buy western land.
