During the Age of Discovery in the 15th till 18th century, European countries began to explore into unknown territory with the aim of finding treasure and other valuables.

The Europeans found natives already living in such lands and because of superior weapons or knowledge, they were able to conquer them and turn them to slaves.

They also brought in Christianity to the natives as a new religion which was largely accepted.
